The Residential Tenancy Branch New Online Application for Dispute Resolution

The Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) has announced that a new Online Application for Dispute Resolution is now available on the RTB website.

What’s New?

  • Upload evidence online
  • Apply for a fee waiver online
  • Ability to resume an incomplete application
  • Helpful email reminders and notifications
  • Helpful information along each step of the application
  • Mobile device friendly
  • Improved look and intuitive design

This new online application will improve tenants’ and Landlords’ access to the dispute resolution process and reduce the need to call the RTB or visit a Service BC office. Check back on the LandlordBC website for more information about this new tool.

For over a year the RTB has worked to develop this new tool with the idea of streamlining services that are currently provided by over the phone support and in person interactions with Information offices. By reducing these interactions which are better served by a self serve model, it leaves room for landlords and tenants to contact the RTB with concerns that need to be handled over the phone or in person.

The new Online Application for Dispute Resolution integrates an easy to use feature for uploading evidence directly to your file which eliminates the need for visiting an RTB/ Service BC office to drop off evidence. A popular feature allows you to see the status of your application and alerts you if your tenant has filed for a review of a decision allowing you to apply for a writ of possession without making a call to the RTB.
